Under the leadership of Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the city is ensuring that Moscow's developing areas have a full range of necessary infrastructure. Transport schemes, social functions, and various points of attraction are all included in each project, and the Yuzhny Port industrial zone is expected to see the construction of residential, public, and commercial leisure facilities. One of the facilities, a multifunctional public and business complex, will be integrated with the Yuzhny Port transport hub and a pedestrian esplanade. The neighborhood will be connected to the neighboring shore by a cable car," explained Sergey Kuznetsov.
In order to provide the population with social infrastructure, the project envisages the construction of two detached schools, two detached kindergartens, blocks of primary classes with preschool departments, and an ambulance substation.
"Yuzhny Port is an extremely important area for the city. Once the project is completed, Moscow will gain a new hub of business and social activity, another ‘calling card’ to add to its collection of iconic urban landmarks. One of the most ‘active’ areas of the project is the embankment. Currently, the coastline is ‘closed’ to city residents, and the project aims to make it the main attraction of Yuzhny Port," added Sergey Kuznetsov.
The embankment development front is as dense as possible due to active stylobates and first floors saturated with public functions, forming a holistic public recreation area. In addition, there will be a yacht club, a pier for the sea tram, a floating stage, and restaurants.
The estimated population of the district will be 10,000 people, with 5,000 new jobs created. The architectural and planning solution for the development reflects a completely new approach to the design of residential areas. In November 2022, KAMEN ARCHITECTS won a repeat competition for this site, with their project featuring modern neighborhoods with high-rise buildings. “The waterfront is formed by a horizontal skyscraper, with towers ‘growing’ out of it. The silhouette of the development is as expressive and dynamic as possible,” said Ivan Grekov, head of the design team.
