SPORTS COMPLEX
The concept of the development of the “Russky” island assumes a comprehensive approach to the creation of a comfortable, modern environment and maintains the popularity of “nature-tourism”. Within the framework of the concept, it is planned to improve the general amenities – the addition of street furniture and other attributes of the comfortable urban environment. Further, the first line of University Avenue will be renovated with a series of one-story buildings housing retailers, restaurants and cafes.
Most of the planned facilities have a short construction period and require relatively little investment: lawns and courts, bicycle tracks and rental points, and ropes courses, for example. The larger hockey rink, waterpark and other multi-story sporting facilities will, on the other hand, become dominating features.
The area around the Bay of Paris is, in our view, the most promising for the nearest stage of the island’s development, due to the favorable natural and landscape characteristics. Its development will create a single renovated, modernised space throughout the middle part of the island.
